PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generating apparatus capable of generating an image with absence of image frame distortion or the like whereby no sense of incongruity is provided to a viewer even when the image is displayed entirely on a stereoscopic display apparatus adopting the Integral-Imaging system or the multiple-lens system.

SOLUTION: The image generating apparatus includes: a stereoscopic display area calculation means 120 for calculating a stereoscopic display area 400 capable of reproducing a three-dimensional positional relation in two-dimensional or three-dimensional image data on the basis of the image data to be displayed on the stereoscopic display apparatus, a position of a target object 30 set in rendering processing and a direction of the ray of the stereoscopic display apparatus; an image processing means 130 for applying image processing, different from image processing applied to in-area image data denoting the inside of the stereoscopic display area, to out-area image data denoting the exterior of the stereoscopic display area calculated by the stereoscopic display area calculation means 120; and an image generating means 140 for generating stereoscopic display image data from the two-dimensional or three-dimensional image data.
