PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of realizing a reduced installation space, improved packing, and an improved design. SOLUTION: A scanner unit 10 is arranged at a top cover portion 2B of a casing 2 in a direction where a longitudinal direction of a contact glass 11 is parallel with a cross direction of the casing 2, and a control panel 14 is arranged in front of the scanner unit 10. On the other hand, a recording unit 20 is arranged at a bottom cover portion 2A in a direction where a longitudinal direction of a sheet paper cassette 21 is substantially parallel with a depth direction of the casing 2. A back end wall 26 of the sheet paper cassette 21 is lowered to a position nearly aligned with a back end position of the scanner unit 10, while a reversal mechanism is used as a feeding mechanism. Thereby, the sheet paper cassette 21, which requires a longest space and tends to jut out to outside, can be accommodated in the range of the depth length L2 of the scanner unit 10 plus the depth length L3 of the control panel 14.
