PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assigning the node and address of a network system suitable for address assignment accompanied by network consolidation. SOLUTION: In a participating node function 20, an assignment request address selector 21 selects an address value having a first order as an assignment request address from a number of ordered address candidates, and selects an assignment request address having the next order each time when the assignment request address is overlapped with the address of an existing node. An address assignment section 22 assigns an assignment request address that does not overlap with the address of an existing node to an own node. A union presence/absence determination section 23 determines the presence or absence of the network consolidation based on the identifier of the network returned from each existing node.
