PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To not only protect a display part from a cassette having a radiation image recording carrier stored therein but also quickly and surely load the cassette to improve the work efficiency, when loading the cassette to a cassette loading part. SOLUTION: In an image reader 10, a cassette loading hole 14 is formed in an upper part of a casing 12, and a first display part 24 and a second display part 26 for displaying patient information or the like are formed in a side part of the cassette loading hole 14. A projection 28 projecting from an upper surface part 20 of the image reader 10 is formed between the cassette loading hole 14 and the first and second display parts 24 and 26, and an approximately perpendicular guide surface 54 is formed in the side of the cassette loading hole 14 of the projection 28. When a cassette is loaded to the cassette loading hole 14, the cassette is loaded into the cassette loading hole 14 along the guide surface 54. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
