PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element for display, which is applied to a display using a liquid crystal or to a rewritable paper using reversible thermosensitive recording and so on and which produces a high contrast and high quality color display. SOLUTION: The fiber element for display is characterized by having a display material, which is variable according to an external means, sealed in a hollow fiber with the colored one half surface and the transparent other half surface. Also, for the fiber element for display the external means is either electric field stimulation or thermal stimulation. Further, for the fiber element for display, the colored part of the hollow fiber is compounded from a conductive colorant and the transparent part of the hollow fiber is compounded from a transparent conductive material.
