PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase generation efficiency of steam by a heater and to reduce thermal loss in a steam engine outputting mechanical energy by making liquid in the vessel flow by heating/cooling liquid. SOLUTION: A part of a fluid vessel 11 is formed in a loop shape. A cooler 13, a heater 12 and a displacer 30 are arranged in an order from bottom to top in a straight line part 11b vertically arranged in the loop. A section of the straight line part 11b from the displacer 30 to the heater 12 is filled with inert gas 22. A movable element 30a of the displacer 30 is temporarily moved up and down by a drive circuit, and liquid film of working fluid is formed on a heating surface of the heater 12 at a time of engine drive. Consequently, all of the liquid film can be evaporated at the heater 12 and liquid heated by the heater can be prevented from returning to the cooler 13 without being evaporated.
