PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water absorbent mat exhibiting a superior wiping performance and consequently exhibiting a superior water absorbent performance. SOLUTION: This water absorbent mat is provided with a mat whole cloth formed by tufting pile yarns on a base cloth. A first pile original yarn formed by primarily twisting multiple numbers of fibers whose whole or parts are made of absorbent fibers, a second pile original yarn formed by primarily twisting multiple fibers whose whole or parts are made of BCF (Bulked Continuous Filament) fibers, and one or more fusion yarns disposed therebetween are secondarily twisted, and the yarn formed by fusing the fusion yarns and sticking the both pile original yarns to each other is used as the pile yarn.
