A hand held device for displaying information comprises an information store storing information in a hierarchical organisation, a display, a user-input device, and a display controller. The display displays information retrieved from the information store and i displays user selectable menu items corresponding to information available from the information store. The user-input device receives user selections of displayed menu items. The display controller controls the display to display a currently selected menu item in a first area and information corresponding to the currently selected menu item in a second area separate from the first area, and further menu items corresponding to a level in the hierarchy in the second area when a user selection is received to replace at least a part of the displayed information. |
