Process for driving the safety rolls (7c) of a continuous casting machine for casting molten metals, especially molten steels, which includes a strand guide (7) for guiding the casting strand (sic) from the individually electrically driven safety rolls (7c) and/or the hydraulically adjustable strand-safety roll segments (9). The total driving torque for all the drives (10) is partially transferred to each safety roll (7c). An independent claim is included for a device for driving the working safety rolls (7c) for casting molten steel materials.
