A fishing ledger 10 is presented with a musciform surface 12, with the appearance of moss or a riverbed deposit. In addition, there is presented a ledger with an anti-tangle device for enshrouding the fishing line and the surface which is musciform. A kit is also presented with comprises two or more ledgers wherein the ledgers are of different colours relative to each other, the difference in colours being selected to reflect the seasonal colour variations of plants. Tunnel 11 acts as the ledgers line attachment means. Elongate filament elements 13 extend along the outer surface of the ledger. Attachment means may comprise an eyeloop (Fig 1c, 19). An anti-tangle device (Fig 2, 31) of a ledger may be used to cover the line.
