To weigh a piece of luggage, such as a suitcase 24, in one embodiment an electronic weighing device 10 is used to lift the luggage by way of a strap 12 releaseably fitted around the handle 22. In a further embodiment (Fig. 2) the weighing device is integral with the suitcase, incorporated in the handle.
