A label, removable with the aid of hot fluid, comprises a polymeric backing layer and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer for bonding the label onto an article. The pressure sensitive layer has on its outer surface, which adheres to the article, a plurality of micro-channels which extend to the periphery of the label. The micro channels may extend all or part way across the label, and may be between 1žm and 15žm deep. The micro-channels may be spaced up to 10mm apart, and may be between 10žm and 250žm wide. The polymeric layer may be a thermoplastics film, and may be between 15žm and 100žm thick. The pressure sensitive adhesive may be insoluble in water, and may be a dispersion adhesive containing an acrylate compound. A method of making a label is also claimed, and may comprise the step of embossing a surface of the label to provide the micro-channels.
