<p>A stable canine distemper vaccine comprises living egg-adapted canine distemper virus and as stabilizing agents, sucrose and a protein preferably casein, hydrolysate. In preparing the vaccine eggs incubated for seven days are innoculated with egg-adapted virus, and stored at 36 DEG C. for six days, the allantoic fluid, decapitated embryos and chorio-allantoic membrane are collected and homogenized, and the ground tissues mixed with a buffered solution (pH 7.2) containing 2-10 per cent by weight each of sucrose and protein hydrolysate. The solution is freeze-dried in ampules, which are sealed in vacuum or under sterile dry nitrogen.</p> |
