发明名称 Improvements in copying lathes and like machine tools
摘要 776,585. Copying-lathes; attachments for turning. WARNER & SWASEY CO. June 7, 1955 [July 22, 1954], No. 16295/55. Class 83 (3). Copying-apparatus for turret or like lathes comprises a contour-slide carried by the carriage for movement independently thereof in a direction transverse to the spindle-axis and provided with a tool-holding portion, the contour-slide and tool-holding portion being located entirely to the rear of the spindle-axis, a follower slide carried by the contour-slide and adjustable thereto in a direction transverse to the movement of the contour-slide, a follower movable on the follower-slide, a templet mounted on the lathe and co-operating with the follower to move it during movement of the carriage, power means for moving the contourslide independently in opposite directions on the carriage, and means carried by the followerslide and actuated by the movement of the follower for controlling the power means. The copying-apparatus may be employed in a turret lathe with a pilot-bar 32, Fig. 1, for supporting the tools carried by a turret 31. A carriage 38 supported on the front-and-rear guideways 28, 29, Figs. 1 and 2, takes the place of the usual carriage supported only by the front way 28, and has a cross-slide 40 and the usual indecible square tool-turret 42 at its front end. The rear of the cross-slide 40 is offset at 41 and provided with a guideway, at 45 degrees to the spindle axis, on which the contour-slide 46, Fig. 9, slides. This slide carries a two-position tool-turret 48 and is moved by hydraulic-pressure entering a cylinder in the slide, co-operating with a piston 51 secured to the support 41. A further guideway 56 on the contour-slide above the piston-gear and at right angles to the machine spindle supports a follower-slide 57. A follower 100, Fig. 6, is supported by flexible strips from a vertically-adjustable arm 80 on a pillar 77. The latter is secured to a valve-box 58 on the slide 57, and the lower end of the follower operates the valve through a connection 104, Figs. 6 and 9. The follower is spring-loaded at 102 to maintain it normally against a templet 125, Figs. 1 and 10, which is carried by brackets 106, 109, secured around the pilot-bar 32. A support-bar 118 for the templet is pivoted in a slot 123, 124 and means 121, 114 are provided for longitudinal and transverse adjustments. Depth-of-cut adjustment. The follower-slide 57 is adjustable for depth-of-cut by a screwdevice 136. Additionally, pivoted stop-members 141, 141a, 141b, Fig. 2, are used to set the follower-slide to give three roughing-cuts and a finishing-cut of predetermined depths. A handle 130, Fig. 1, is provided, in a bracket adjacent the follower, for disengaging the latter from the templet so that the contour-tools are quickly withdrawn from the work. Turrets. The tool-turret 48, Fig. 2, carries a roughing-tool and a finishing-tool 143, 144. A hand-lever 164 is rotated to effect automatic indexing and clamping. The lever rotates a sleeve valve 157, Fig. 9, which controls the supply of pressure-liquid from the main supplypump 69 to the support-pillar for the turret. Indexing is effected by vanes and stops in the chamber 150 between the rotary turret and the non-rotatable stem 145. The latter is keyed to the follower-slide and carries a piston 146 to clamp the serrated faces 148a of the turret and support after the indexing.
