DIALYSIS CATHETER TIP

A catheter distal tip comprises first and second tip lumens which, in an operative configuration, are coupled to first and second catheter lumens. A first opening of the distal tip is connected to the first tip lumen for infl ow of fluid in a normal mode of operation and for outflow of fluid in a reverse mode of operation. A second opening connected to the second lumen is dispose d distally from the first opening separated therefrom by a selected stagger distance for outflow in the normal mode of operation and inflow in the rever se mode of operation. The distal tip also includes a contoured flow deflection element directing, in the reverse mode of operation, outflow from the first opening away from the second opening and a contoured outlet portion of the second opening reducing an outflow velocity therefrom in the normal mode of operation.
