The device has a support carrying a pick-and-place robot (14) that includes a handle for supporting preform or bottle. The handle is overhung on a slug in the distal end of a slide (22) that is formed as a single part in the form of a rail which is mounted slidingly on a guide (24) fixed to a plate. The slide has a profile complementary to that of a groove (25) of the guide, to retain the slide vertically towards the base by the guide.
