A transmission station for transmitting data includes a request frame generation unit for generating a reception state request frame for requesting all the reception stations at once for the reception state information on the reception state at the reception stations. The transmission station also includes a modulation unit for modulating the transmission rate of the data frame according to the reception state information received by the reception station in response to the reception state request frame. This eliminates the need of transmitting a frame requesting ABL information for each reception station by the transmission station. Accordingly, it is possible to easily perform data communication using the ABL.
