The invention relates to a method for identifying a shaft fracture and/or an excessive rotational speed in a gas turbine, especially in rotating parts of an aircraft engine. According to the invention, the integrity of at least one device that is allocated to a rotating part is monitored, a shaft fracture and/or an excessive rotational speed being identifiable from a modification of signals determined during said monitoring process.
