A control section (101) specifies whether to combine and the image arrangement method in case combination is performed. An image combination section (102) creates image data of the format specified by the aforementioned presence/absence of combination and the arrangement method. A 3D information creation section (103) formats the presence/absence of combination and the arrangement method and creates 3D information required for displaying an image in 3- dimensional way. An encoding section (104) encodes the image data crated by the image combination section (102) and creates encoded data. A multiplexing section (105) converts the encoded data created by the encoding section (104) and the 3D information created by the 3D information creation section into a predetermined format and outputs it outside. Thus, the image data for 3-dimensional display can have general- purpose characteristic.
