PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encryption apparatus and an encryption method which enhance the reliability of an encryption function. SOLUTION: The encryption apparatus generates an element unique parameter unique to a solid-state imaging element on the basis of a uniform image signal S2 outputted from the solid-state imaging element as a result of uniform imaging of an imaging object by an imaging section 11 and encrypts authentication information D1 by using encryption key information D2 introduced from the element unique parameter so as to simply ensure the secrecy of the authentication information D1 thereby enhancing the reliability of the encryption function.
