PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin fluid pressure actuator supporting a large load. SOLUTION: This fluid pressure actuator is provided with a cylinder main body, a piston arranged slidably in the cylinder main body, and a pressure chamber constituted between the piston and it in the cylinder main body. A working fluid supply and discharge passage into the pressure chamber, an opening and closing passage which is a part of the supply and discharge passage, and a closing valve for stopping supply of working fluid in the opening and closing passage are provided in the cylinder main body, and the closing valve is closed when the piston is elongated by predetermined length.
