PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable check valve enabling oil discharge amount characteristics to meet actual ideal characteristics and oil to be discharged to a proper position on the engine side. SOLUTION: A body 12 is movably provided with a piston 14 and a chamber 16 serving as an oil passage communicating with an engine is formed in the body 12, and the chamber 16 is provided therein with a valve element 22 to open and close the oil passage; and a first spring 24 situated between the valve element and the piston 14 and energizing the valve element 22 and the piston 14 in a direction in which the valve element and the piston are separated away from each other. The piston 14 is fixed at a diaphragm 28, and a second spring 38 to energize the piston 14 and the diaphragm 28 in a direction in which the piston and the diaphragm are separated from the first spring 24 side is provided between the diaphragm 28 and the body 12.
