PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which can secure a fine operability even when held with either the left or right hand. SOLUTION: Almost a cylindrical grip 68 is formed in a shape horizontally symmetrical with respect to the center line O and also, scope switches SW1-SW3 are provided along the center line O on the side circumferential surface near the rear end of the manipulator 22 provided at the rear end (base end) of the insertion tube 21 and a track ball 69 for the bending operation is provided on the center line O on the inclined surface Sa provided on the rear end face of the grip 68 as well. This secures the fine operability even when the endoscope is held with either the left or right hand.
