PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stilbene derivative having a prescribed sensitivity characteristic, capable of effectively preventing crystallization and excellent in static charge stability and to provide a method for producing the stilbene derivative and to provide an electrophotographic photorecetor containing the stilbene derivative. SOLUTION: The stilbene derivative is represented by general formula (1) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a 1-20C substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a 6-12C substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, a 1-20C substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group or a 6-12C substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group or the like; A is a divalent organic group). The method for producing the stilbene derivative comprises carrying out an ether cleavage reaction and esterification reaction using a specific dialkoxystilbene derivative as a raw material.
