PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 2,2,3,3-tetrafluorooxetane, comprising reacting tetrafluoroethylene with a formaldehyde-producing source compound in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, by which the reaction yield is enhanced. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 2,2,3,3-tetrafluorooxetane is characterized by carrying out the reaction in the presence of a polyfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid or its polyfluoroalkyl ester represented by general formula: RfCOORf' (Rf is a 1 to 5C polyfluoroalkyl; Rf' is H or a 1 to 5C polyfluoroalkyl), preferably CF<SB>3</SB>COOH, CF<SB>3</SB>COOCH<SB>2</SB>CF<SB>2</SB>CF<SB>3</SB>or CH<SB>3</SB>COOCH<SB>2</SB>CF<SB>3</SB>.
