This invention pertains to novel multiple quaternary ammonium salts and their derivatives represented by the formula: wherein each R<SUB>1</SUB>, R'<SUB>1</SUB>, R<SUB>2</SUB>, R'<SUB>2</SUB>, R<SUB>3</SUB>, R'<SUB>3</SUB>, R<SUB>4 </SUB>or R<SUB>5 </SUB>is independently selected from the group consisting alkyl, aryl, aralkyl and -CH<SUB>2</SUB>-CH(OR<SUB>6</SUB>)-CH<SUB>2</SUB>N<SUP>+</SUP>R<SUB>1</SUB>R<SUB>2</SUB>R<SUB>3</SUB>; wherein one or more R<SUB>6 </SUB>group is selected from the group consisting of: and wherein An<SUP>-</SUP> is an anion.
