<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To replace a main pipe of a branch pipe without cutting off the water supply. <P>SOLUTION: A bypass pipe 5 is laid along an existing pipe line 2 to be replaced. One and the other end sides of the bypass passage 5 communicate with the existing pipe line 2 through a pair of communicating pipes 6, 6. Passage of water in an existing pipe line 2 part between one communicating pipe and the other communicating pipe 6, and while the water passes through the bypass passage 5, the existing pipe line 2 part in which passage of water is stopped is replaced to a new pipe.
