<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alumina-zirconia-based ceramics having high strength, high toughness and high hardness. <P>SOLUTION: The alumina-zirconia-based ceramics comprising Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>particles and ZrO<SB>2</SB>particles is characterized in that the content of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>is ≥65 mass%, the content of ZrO<SB>2</SB>lies in the range of 4 to 34 mass%, CaO enters into solid solution in a part of the ZrO<SB>2</SB>particles, also, the content of CaO lies in the range of 1 to 4 mass%, and further, SiO<SB>2</SB>, TiO<SB>2</SB>and MgO as sintering aid components are contained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
