PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutter superior in cutting performance, by controlling a supply linear speed of a wire saw in response to an abrasion state, and detecting the abrasion state of the wire saw. SOLUTION: Since the wire saw 1 cuts a cutting object material 35 by successively supplying a new wire from a winding bobbin 31, the wire saw 1 is severely abraded toward the side near to the winding bobbin 38. A wire saw inspection device 37 is arranged on the winding bobbin 38 side relative a guide roller 34, and a supply speed is adjusted on the basis of an inspection result of the inspection device 37, and the cutting performance can be enhanced by cutting by setting a cutting condition suited to the abrasion state of the wire saw 1.
