PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor with a small circuit constitution and almost no waste of the storage capacity for storing image data even though it can determine whether an image is a color image or not by executing the reading of the image only once. SOLUTION: The image processor (1) has an image reading part (11) for reading the image from an original manuscript, a color processing part (12), which processes the read image as a color image and generates image data showing the color image, a color determination part (14) for determining whether the read image is a color image or a monochrome image, and an image storage part (15) for storing the image data. The color processing part (12) generates luminance data and chromaticity data as image data. The luminance data and chromaticity data are stored in the image storage part (15). However, when the color determination part (14) determines that it is a monochrome image, the chromaticity data are discarded.
