PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel realizing the shortening of entire length at the maximum withdrawing time. SOLUTION: The lens barrel has a lens holding member driven to be extended and withdrawn in an optical axis direction, a position detection means for detecting that the lens holding member is located at a prescribed position and a control means for setting the maximum withdrawing position of the lens holding member according to moving amount from the prescribed position.
