PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reconcile saving of delay for requested timing and a delay memory amount necessary therefor. SOLUTION: An electrophotographic image forming apparatus for forming one image by overlapping two colors or more toner images comprises a photoreceptor drum for forming the two colors or more toner images, a transfer body for overlapping to transfer each color image from the photoreceptor drum, a video signal generating part for generating video signals for forming the two colors or more toner images, a first delay memory for holding the video signals, a two colors or more inter-color image processing part for processing the images by using the video signals after delay of the first delay memory, and a second delay memory for holding information of the video signals after inter-color image processing. The image forming apparatus processes the prescribed inter-color images and overlaps each color image at a prescribed position on the transfer body by holding and delaying with the first delay memory and the second delay memory.
