PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the initializing operation of a photographic lens high in operating speed and high in precision. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is characterized in that the apparatus has photographic lenses(31, 32) which are driven in a 1st area where is used for photographing and a 2nd area being a storage area to an imaging apparatus body and moreover, which has a 3rd area where the optical state of the photographic lenses is not changed in the 1st area, a motor(39) which drives the photographic lenses, a detection means(10) which detects that the photographic lenses are positioned at a prescribed position and a control means(11) which controls the drive of the motor, and the prescribed position is set in the area of one side of the 2nd area and the 3rd area, and the control means performs the deceleration control of the motor so that the lenses is stopped in the 3rd area according the the detection signal from the detection means in a first operation time when the motor drives the lenses in the direction heading toward the 1st area from the 2nd area.
