PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing 13-hydroxypodocarpa-8,11,13-trien-7-one-based compound useful as a medicinal compound in which an antimicrobial property and antioxidaton activity are expected or its synthetic intermediate. SOLUTION: The method for producing 13-hydroxypodocarpa-8,11,13-trien-7-one-based compound comprises oxidizing 8,11,13-abietatriene-based compound represented by general formula (1) at 0-40°C in the presence of a catalyst and an oxygen-supplying source and as necessary, acylating the product to provide a compound represented by general formula (2) and then treating the compound with an acid.
