PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for easily detecting a defective pixel included in a pixel signal being output from a solid-state imaging device, and to provide an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: An output signal of a solid-state imaging device 101 such as CCD is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter 102, and stored in a latch 103. The latch 103 is constituted of a delay circuit, a line memory, etc., so as to retain a pixel data required for a defective pixel detection algorithm. A normal pixel detector 104 receives an input signal from the A/D converter 102, decides whether a pixel for inspection is a normal pixel or a possible defective pixel, and forwards the decision results to a defective pixel detector 105.
