PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera wherein a switching between external synchronization system and internal synchronization system is made without providing a dedicated switch. SOLUTION: A comparator 17 compares the voltage level (first voltage level) from a regulation voltage forming volume 16 being employed in external synchronization system with the voltage level (second voltage level) from a comparison voltage output section 15. An output voltage level when the regulation voltage forming volume 16 is turned clockwise substantially fully is V1, and the output voltage level when the volume is turned counterclockwise substantially fully is V2 (V1>V2). Assuming the second voltage level is v, v has a value close to V1 and it is set to satisfy a relation v<V1. The comparator 17 provides the CPU in a camera circuit 5 with a comparison signal indicating whether v<V1 is satisfied (e.g. a High signal for v<V1, otherwise a Low signal).
