PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a storage capacitor having sufficient capacitance without uselessly lowering the luminance of a liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device of a multi-domain homeotropic allignment system is provided with: a first substrate; a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; and a regulating structure formed at least either the first substrate or the second substrate. Each pixel region has a pixel electrode, a first capacitor electrode, a second capacitor electrode and a mutual connecting part to electrically connect the second capacitor electrode and the pixel electrode. The capacitor electrode has a main body extending in a first direction and an extension portion extending from a part of the main body to a direction different from the first direction. The extension portion of the capacitor electrode is surrounded by the regulating structure and the edge of the above pixel electrode and is positioned in a region where the angle made by the regulating structure and the edge of the pixel electrode is within 90°.
