PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protecting fence for stepwise and effectively absorbing impact energy by connecting adjacent ropes to each other with their ends having extra lengths via a shock absorbing tool for interaction between the rope subjected to direct impact with rock fall and the rope adjacent thereto via a guide supporting column. SOLUTION: The rock fall protecting fence 10a comprises a plurality of supporting columns erected at spaces and the ropes stepwise set thereon. The extra ends of locking rope materials 1 are connected to both extra side ends of a relay rope material via the gripping shock absorbing tools 40a, 40b, respectively, and the other ends of the locking rope materials are connected to rope terminal locking supporting columns 20 so that long relay rope materials 33 are guided movably right and left by rope guide supporting columns 30.
