PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method of an inverted siphon capable of reducing a running cost or the like accompanying human labor, an operator burden and periodical cleaning work. SOLUTION: In the case cleaning the inside of an inverted siphon pipe 3 of the inverted siphon 1A is carried out, a cable 43 is made to be rolled down by a winch 44, a door body 41 of a gate 4 for an air reservoir is lowered to a proper position, and successively a compressor C is driven to supply air inside the inverted siphon pipe 3 to make the air held in of the inverted siphon pipe 3. As a result, since an occupied area of a sewage W in the cross section of the inverted siphon pipe 3 is narrowed to accelerate the velocity of a flowing fluid, sedimentary earth and sand S are washed away and collected in a pit 21 of an inverted siphon chamber 2B on a downstream side.
