PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear derailleur for a bicycle that can smoothly guide a chain to a rear sprocket. SOLUTION: The rear derailleur is provided with a base member, a linkage, a movable member, an outer plate member 20, an inner plate member 21, a guide pulley 22, and a tension pulley 23. The base member is the member that is attached to a frame, and the linkage is a mechanism of which one end is attached to the base member. Then the movable member is the member that is attached to the other end of the linkage, and is movable relatively to the base member. The outer plate member is the member that is attached to the movable member with flexible oscillation, and the inner plate member is the member that is arranged opposed to the outer plate member. Then the guide pulley is attached between the outer and inner plate members on one end side of both the plate members with flexible rotation and flexible movement in the axis direction, and can be engaged with the chain. The tension pulley can be engaged with the chain, and the center of its engagement is arranged in the direction closer to the outer plate member than the center of the engagement of the guide pulley is to the outer plate member.
