<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To configure a simple and secure system that does not use a personal identification number troublesome for both user and system at card use. <P>SOLUTION: A card number is generated from a combination of two numbers in a one-to-one correspondence (mapping) relation, so that an intentional or accidental single digit error in the card number can be detected completely. The method, specifically, uses an M-sequence as one-to-one mapping, and applies permutation secret from a user to increase security against falsification.
