PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch in which a coupling state of light is easily detected. SOLUTION: The optical switch is provided with: an optical path change over device 3; an electromagnetic device 2 which is provided with a an armature 21 mechanically connected to a prism 31 and linearly moves the armature 21; and a body 1 which houses the optical path change over device 3 and the electromagnetic device 2. The electromagnetic device 2 is provided with: the armature 21; balancing springs 27; an iron core 25; and a coil 23, wherein each of the balancing springs 27 is connected to the armature 21 at the intermediate part of both armature strips 21a and 21b in the direction connecting magnetic pole strips 25a and 25b. The optical switch has a detection means for optical coupling state composed of: fixed strips 5a and 5b composed of an electric conductive member which are fixed on the body 1 and come in contact with the balancing springs 27 at one of optical coupling states; an electric conduction part which forms an electric circuit by electrically connecting the fixed strips 5a and 5b to the balancing springs 27 in a state that the fixed strips 5a and 5b are in contact with the balancing spring 27; and a display part which displays the formation of the electric circuit.
