<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a database management system and a database management method. <P>SOLUTION: This system comprises a database layer 28 including a database for storing data, a spread sheet layer for representing data from the database layer in a spread sheet in accordance with a view, and an interface layer 22 for interfacing the database layer and the spread sheet layer. The database layer stores data corresponding to a plurality of entities of a plurality of entity types within a plurality of tables in the database. The plurality of entities are linked by a plurality of relations within a predetermined structure. An interface layer comprises a semantic net server 23 for converting the structure of data within the database layer to a semantic net.
