PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for embodying an optical compensation layer for increasing the visual angle of a liquid crystal display device.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises a liquid crystal cell, a couple of polarizing plate which is provided across the liquid crystal cell, a 1st compensation layer which is provided between the liquid crystal cell and one polarizing plate, and a 2nd compensation layer which is provided between the liquid crystal cell and the other polarizing plate.
