PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device for an internal-combustion engine to sense the ignition position computed in combined use of counting the crank angle signals and measuring the measuring values with an ignition timer, in which the ignition position is sensed accurately without being influenced by the phase difference between the reference signal and the crank angle signal. SOLUTION: The ignition device for the internal-combustion engine is structured so that the phase difference between the reference signal Vs1 and crank angle signal Vcr is determined as an error angleΔβ, and the target count value So is determined by dividing the angle obtained by subtracting the error angleΔβfrom the angleλ1 for the distance from the reference positionθ1 as the position where the reference signal Vs1 is generated to the target ignition positionθi1 by the unit angleθu as the interval at which the reference angle signals are generated, while the counting by the ignition timer is started when the count value Sk of the crank angle signals Vcr has attained the target count value, and the crank angle position where the counting by the ignition timer is completed is sensed as the target ignition positionθi1, and in this ignition position an ignition signal is given to the ignition circuit so as to conduct the ignition operation.
