PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation in the positional accuracy of a zoom type photographing lens barrel while highly accurately adjusting focus by speedily moving a lens group from the stored position to a photographing position, and to achieve miniaturization. SOLUTION: A lens barrel unit includes: one or more lens frames 1 and 2 for holding one or more lens groups; a photoelectric conversion means 11 disposed at the back in the direction of the optical axis; target detection parts 21 and 31 provided on the lens frames; detecting means 20 and 30 for detecting the positions of the target detection parts. In the lens barrel unit, the position when each detecting means detects a change in the movement of the corresponding target detection part in the process of the movement of the corresponding lens frame from the furthest back to the front is the same position as the light receiving face 11A of the photoelectric means or a position further back than the light receiving face.
