PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal supported catalyst which consists of a low-priced material, has low manufacturing cost and is capable of securing a full function as a catalyst. SOLUTION: The metal supported catalyst where a metal element that is to be the catalyst is supported on a carrier which is formed by a slurry producing process for producing a slurry by blending the raw material of silicic acid and the raw material of lime within the range of 0.4 to 1.0 of CaO/SiO<SB>2</SB>mol ratio and suspending them by adding water, a mechanochemical reaction process for simultaneously agitating and crushing the produced slurry by using a wet crusher to cause a mechanochemical reaction to occur, and a heating/maturing process for performing a heating/maturing treatment while the slurry after the mechanochemical reaction is completed, and is a porous calcium silicate having BET specific surface area of 50 to 500 m<SP>2</SP>/g and absorbed oil quantity of 50 to 550ml/100g according to JIS K6260 as the carrier.
