PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and a data processing method of the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus, capable of more precisely estimating the distribution of sensitivity of an RF coil based on image data obtained by performing sensitivity pre-scanning, and capable of more effectively correcting the brightness of the image data obtained by the scanning. SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus 20 comprises a means of executing the scanning for preparing sensitivity mapping data of the RF coil 24, a means 44b of executing the region reduction for a signal region near a non-signal region of the image data obtained by the scanning, and a means 44 of preparing the sensitivity mapping data using the image data after the region reduction.
