The machine tool has a motorised workpiece carriage (2) movable on a machine bed for the workpiece and a machining unit (4) movable in several axes with a motor-driven machining spindle (15) for accommodating machining tools. The carriage contains at l one rotatable workpiece holder (5) and an associated rotary drive with which the holder can be driven to carry out a turning process.
