<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode membrane for a solid polymer type fuel cell, and an electrode for a solid polymer type fuel cell both of which have high durability. <P>SOLUTION: This electrode membrane for a solid polymer type fuel cell and this electrode for a solid polymer type fuel cell each have an ion conducting polymer having a sulfonic acid group (-SO<SB>3</SB>H) as an ion exchange group; and are characterized by that a part of the sulfonic acid group is cross-linked by an -A<SP>1</SP>-R-A<SP>2</SP>- group (R: an electron-donating group; and A<SP>1</SP>to A<SP>2</SP>each have a structure independently determined and are each p-, m- or o-phenylene or naphthalene).
